Gateway vs Acer

Thread Starter
Which monitor should I get? Acer P241W or Gateway FPD2485W?

I like how Acer has both HDMI and DVI. I've seen it in person and its gorgeous. Though quality-wise it hasn't got much great reviews. They all say it's good for its price.

On the other hand, the Gateway doesn't have HDMI, but it has DVI, VGA, and components, so if I get that I'd be using VGA for my rig and DVI for the PS3 I'm getting. However, it does have a lot more features and has better reviews, but that comes at a heavier price tag.

Now which one should I get?

Either go with a good $500+ 24" or go with a 22".

quality 22" > cheap 24"

I can't vouch for either but the gateway is probably better. I'd go with a samsung if possible...

Gateway makes good monitors, I really liked my 22" Gateway until I sold it and got a 28" Hanns.

I've got the gateway and I love it. You just can't beat that extra real estate of the 24" monitors. As for this particular monitor, I got it because of all the connections. It's HD capable so I wanted to be able to plug in componenet video from my HD DVR. It works great and looks amazing. I am a fan of the stand too, really sturdy and easy to move the panel around.

The only drawback is that it takes a few seconds to wake up after my computer shuts it off because it has to figure out what input it's getting data from and then switch to it. Other than that (really minor) point, I can't think of anything bad to say about it. Like I said, I love it.

Edit - doesn't have HDMI though, wish it did for future upgrades. Don't plan to upgrade this monitor for a long long time.

They are both good monitors, I happen to be a fan of Acer monitors so I just wanted to pipe up and give a for Acer. I don't think you'd go wrong with either monitor so just look at your budget and go with your gut.

For my budget of about $350, I ended up getting a used 245BW (in superb condition) from a fellow OCN member. I guess I just killed my own thread.
