Recommend a decent setup?

Thread Starter
So my advisor went ape**** today when he heard you could watercool a PC, and now he's got to have one. I've got the components for his rig already on the way from newegg, a P35 gigabyte board, q6600, 4GB crucial RAM, and various other goodies.

Still need to get the case, and obviously, the cooling. He's a retired professor, so gaming is not his thing. What I'd like to do is get him a Danger Den 775 block, and take it from there.

Ultimately, it's got to be stable and VERY idiot proof. He can't maintain this thing, or even notice if something is a little wrong, so I have to build this right the first time. He insisted on watercooling though, because it's near-silent and his upper offices get hot in summer (though he has central air, I don't think it ever gets above 80 having been there myself in the summer).

I will give him a modest overclock of about 3.0Ghz, maybe 3.2, so it's not like we're going nuts here, just enough to aggresively and silently cool in an ambient temp of 28 at its peak.

I know I will need:
pump
hose
radiator
block
fans
Non-conductive fluid (see IDIOT proof)
UV dye for my sake not his

Like I said, I doubt I'll even need to cool the card, it's a crappy MSI 64 bit card with 256 Mb RAM, just so he can use office and surf pr0n. North bridge shouldn't need much either.

Please recommend parts you live and die by for the above. This is my first watercool, and I've got a lot of air experience and general know-how, but must-know tips for noobs appreciated. I will read FAQ's now, I don't need a total handout, just really a good pump, hose, case, and radiator recommend.

Sorry for all the words...!

Thanks and rep in advance to those who help.

Oh yeah, and a reservoir. And what about evaporation? Will these need flushing regularly?

I'd just stick some good HSF's on the NB and SB and use a kit like this, I'd get the 320 rad option, it should be OK with a CPU only loop....Its not Hi Po, but it doesn't sound like he needs it..Fuzion Kit...If you want better we can help piece one together..

Heres some stuff you might like to read, I'll leave you my cleaning and set-up PDF also...Be sure to read all the stickies here to..

Thanks for the tips. Really though, I'm about to graduate, and I'll be leaving this thing with him for 3 - 5 years. He won't know how to bleed a T-line, he can barely burn a disc. I'll break the news to him.

Myself, on the other hand, will probably get into liquid within the next year. My 3.6 is still finicky...

make sure to use the DDC pump, it has an RPM wire, so you have the PC shut off if the pump dies.
also use worm-drive clamps. no zipties.

WC'ing is pretty basic and easy, there is a lot more up-keep to it..Like you are getting at if he cant burn a disc he would be better off with a HSF......Just get him a big shiny one and he'll think its cool anyway...
