Intel's "platform" blows. Their integrated graphics are horribly underpowered for any sort of gaming. That may change with Larrabee, but then again Intel actually has the resources to support it. AMD, on the other hand, being a much smaller company, was better off with VIA, nVidia and ATI providing chipsets and graphics. Now, AMD has to stretch what resources they have across chipset development, CPU development and GPU development. This is in addition to the fact that they are in a huge amount of debt and have more expenses than income. Not a good combination. ATI is long overdue on delivering an actual significant leap in GPU tech.
