Ha, yeah, but the floppy icon is so...iconic! What would you suggest instead of floppy icon? Maybe a small hard drive shaped icon..or maybe a flash drive in keeping with the removable media concept?

And for my two cents, a well thought and tactful response which entirely disproves a suggestion someone else makes has much more gravity than saying "shut up." Anonymity has a way of turning people into right bastards.

Now, how would you feel if you created a post, and all you got were comments like, "useless", "wasted thread", "pointless", etc, etc.???

Again, some of you are so lucky I'm not a moderator. I'm getting sick of some of these really unprofessional posts around here.

If you wouldn't say it to somebody's face, or rather, "in person", then don't say it at all!!!

In other words, let's think before we post. Think of how you'd feel if somebody said that to YOU!!

Sigh.

I dont see anything wrong with this thread, he's just up for a little speculation.

I see what you're going for, but the unit itself consists of 2 or more cores. With that said, it is still on one unit and they act in sync (to a certain extent). I think CPU should stay.

But its a perfectly good thread..

The topic is a floccinaucinihilipilification.

The term CPU should stay, even though it is still correct.

This might be selfish, but when I see something stupid, annoying, pointless, underwhelming, etc. I just smile to myself and appreciate my superiority. Sharing that with anyone else would just ruin the moment.

p.s. I in no way am suggesting this thread is stupid, annoying, pointless or underwhelming. On the contrary, I laughed openly at how worked up people got over some words. Lighten up. We're all friends here.

I certainly agree with you, but this sort of behavior is inevitable on forums of all sizes. You must learn to deal with it - for me it is easiest is to just stay out of the way because nothing I can say or do will fix the trolling/flaming.

Also keep in mind that a moderator (any competent moderator) should draw a fine line between being reasonable and excessive in discipline. You can't simply power-trip because you are in the mood to do so.

Yes I pruned the thread. There were far too many off topic, inappropriate & rude posts. If it continues then more ifractions will get dished out like I've been doing already.

Call it a rat, I call it keep the forum nice & clean. Pardon my French but half the people b**** about how "OCN is going down hill, whine, whine whine."
....and the other half b*** about how "You guys report too many posts, whine whine whine."

Grow up. If you don't think this is a serious topic then don't post. I'm not gonna let people come in and crap on a thread. Do it and see what happens.

I agree with you (Drax. his post is now gone) it should stay CPU. Obvious economic reasons to it like.

1. Confusing general public.
2. Making public think that they are new technology and that CPU's are old.
3. Monopolies (intel) could take advantage of confusion to overcharge consumers.

I'm not looking to be one. But if I were a moderator, I'd do everything I could do while staying within the rules and regulations given to me.

And did you see Transonic's response, and what he did? This is the kind of stuff I was talking about.

What did you think I was talking about?

Anyway, as for the topic, it's a good concept since CPU has been used forever, but I want to point out that the area where the processing is done is called the Central Processing Unit. It's the central location for the processing. And it's a processing unit. If you had 4 CPU's, like with a server, then you could call that area the CPU, even though you have 4 individual ones.

But like somebody said, I believe it's possible that Intel would be the first to try changing it so stir up sales.
