guide to purchasing new RAM

RAM Selection Guide

This guide was created both for beginners and for experienced users who just want a quick guide to upgrading a RAM kit. I've divided up this guide so that users can use the tags included in the flowchart to find the matching RAM modules more easily. I've included the most common RAM speeds out there: 667, 800, and 1066Mhz. I did this mainly to save myself some headache, since there are plenty of different RAM speeds out there, I couldn't possibly put them all into a single flowchart . I plan on updating the entire guide with a second chart as well, possibly comparing performance over price and the like. Anyways, this is a decent start for me

To use this chart properly:
open up a search function (Ctrl+F) and type the name of the tag, which will be in parentheses, like this: (1.1.1) exactly as you see it in the image, then hit enter. You should be taken immediately to the RAM kit you specified.

I've tried my best to pick the best kits out there, if there are any that you think are more worthy of a title here, please suggest them

Checking Your Motherboard's Memory Standard:

There are a few ways you can do this, but the easiest and quickest way is this:

1) go to www.newegg.com

2) Navigate to the "Motherboards" section

3) Find your specific motherboard either through step #2 or by searching in the Newegg search bar

4)check memory standard in "specifications"

Interesting chart - I'd like to see the Geil Evo One RAM on there, even if it is a bit expensive.
