sli freezes system when watching videos

So I have a new 790i EVGA motherboard with 2 GTS 8800 G92 video cards in SLI format. With sli enabled I start up videos and wait a while and the system freezes solid, nothing moves ot even mouse need to be hard rebooted. Disable the SLI and no issues. Mostly occurs when watching fraps videos, I know fraps has its own video codec. But it occurs on other videos just not near as much. Tried several codec packs but running the cccp one now, and have tryed tried several media players form winamp, windows media player 9 and 11, and whatever else. Also used the EVGA drivers and the most recent supported driver set fro evga which are older then EVGa set, currently running the latest nvidia beta drivers, and no change. Tho I have not experienced the general video crash (any video besides fraps) but those are a lot less common, fraps videos still freeze me up. I have done the proper safe mode remove driver and back again and reinstalled codec atleast once and da da da. So is this a known issue or am I a odd ball

Also note I have been playing games on this system constantly, had one crash with portal but have never experienced it since, and that as with beta drivers, everything else from crysis, city of heroes, GRAW2, Arma and bunch of others no issue so am prity sure I don't have a hardware issue.

Yes, did not see any errors related to the issue, the system freezes so suddenly that I don't think it gets written to the event log
