Hey, I am thinking about joining you all here and making the switch back to AMD for my first quad core. I have seen promising results for the 9850BE.

I just Have one question: Which weeks had the best silicon? I want to do the best job overclocking that I can and I was wondering if they were hit and miss.

I really want to switch back and I think this chip is the one

Well after about 4 months of 45W budget goodness I have caved...

The following shipped today:

Phenom 9850BE
MSI K9A2 Platinum
MSI RX3870 OC Radeon HD 3870 512MB
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066

Total was around $700 which I feel REALLY good about.

Is anyone running the stock 9850 Heatsink and fan?
For those with a K9A2 what heatsink are you running?

Anyway just an FYI to those overclocking the NB (North Bridge)
You dont have to. You can "in most cases" push the HT buss 100-150mhz up before needing a divider! sometime even further with some voltage!

Check my sig for the cooler I am using. I chose this one for price/performance ration and ease of installation. Depending on what you want I am sure there are better ones out there, but it works pretty good. I did however lap both cooler and processor.

I ran prime95 for about an hour the other night with temps settling in at 59 which is a little too high for my taste which is why I haven't pushed it and won't till I get cooler temps. To be honest though, I couldn't be happier with the mobo and cpu. This mobo has so many options I was foaming at the mouth when I got to play with all of them....
That is really good then if it will run stable with no voltage change. Can you tell us what batch you got?

When you say "buss" do you mean the HT Link Speed?

Sorry I don't know what you mean when you say batch. Are you talking about the CPU, or something else or what? I'll let you know anything though. Just need some elaboration, lol.

Look at the picture where you see 0810 on the second line just right of the AA. That tells the manufacture date (10th week of 08).
