Unganged mode is the best memory option for phenoms by general consensus.

Also, everyone should try overvolting the southbridge to break into some higher numbers. Im not talking insane amounts, just tease it up until you find some headroom.

Some other voltages like HTT Link and NB chipset voltages could do with some mild voltage increases.

Again, Try to find the best mix of Base Frequency and Multiplier, using the base freq to maximise other parts of your system like PROC-NB and RAM, as well as the HTT link speed. Just throwing up the multiplier is quickest way, but you will be loosing out in other areas.

Also keep in mind that PHENOMS DO NOT SHARE THE SAME MEMORY DIVIDERS AS ATHLON X2'S.

This is the second or third time someone has suggested increasing the voltage on the SB, however unless I am missing something it is not an option for my board anywhere. If anyone does know where that option is, please point me in the right direction.

I have been able to increase the NB and HTT to 2500, however under testing (OCCT and OAD Stress Test) it just errors out until I drop it back down to around 237 or 238 (forgot to write that one down).

Clock your HTT multi down by a notch. Your effective HTT speed at that is near 5000mHZ. So drop the multi on the HTT until your in the 4200-4400 region.

Nice work guys.. i've been keeping track of this thread as my parts came in.

I put this system together last night and began OCing today. (About to update my sig)

So far 2.8ghz was no problem at stock voltages. I tried 2.9 and had a freeze after a few minutes. I upped the CPU core to 1.33x and have been running fine for over a hour, going to get into stress testing here soon. This is all on the stock HSF mind you.

@ 2.5ghz idle was 35c, load was 45c
@ 2.9ghz idle is still 40c, load TBD.

There is a setting in my bios to turn on CPU fan at 40c, so I'm expecting 40c idle up to a point.

Other thoughts:
Clock for clock against an Athlon this thing has a nice improvement!
On the LE-1640 @ 2.9ghz my best superPI was 29.xxx
this 9850 @ 2.9ghz achieved 26.3. Not bad for 1 core!

I want to be part of the club……

Anyway
I receive my new system

Quick spec:
Phenom 9850 BE
Asus M3N-HT Deluxe mempipe edition
4gb OCz Reaper
1000w PSU .. … ..
9800 Gx2 in quad sli
Bigwater 760i

Right away I start the OC process and in a few try when up to 2.900 (stable to run 3d mark 06, play games, ect)

200 x 14.5 @ 1.4000v

Temps idel = 48c
Load = 58c

Today I have been trying to go for the 3.0 mark

I try a few of the other people setups but did not work.

One of my concerns is my temps.
I see that most of the people have temps around 30-45 idle when OC. My system stock and idle is whooping 39c with water-cooling . The water cooling system is well ventilated

Any suggestion

Something is not right unless you have REALLY high room temps (doubt your room temp is 39c). I would check the amount of paste/grease you have and if it is seated properly.

UPDATE:

Yesterday when I got home I set everything up to my highest stable setting in the bios which is as follows:

CPU Multi: 13x
HT Multi: 10x
HT ref. Clock: 225
Mem VDDQ: 1.9
NB Core: 1.2
CPU HT: 1.25
CPU VDDC: 1.336

Then I went into AOD and unselected "Select All Cores" and changed Core 0 Multi to 13.5 which gave me 3037Mhz on that core. I ran a stress test, no errors, played some games, no errors, surfed the web, no problems. This morning I ran the auto test in OCCT and it completed with no errors. I plan on lettings this run the rest of the day (if I can keep my patience in check) and then up Core 1 tonight and see if I get the same results.

I will try that as soon I get home. One of the problems that I have with voltage is that I don’t know the stock voltage for each section. In the mobo of the fx 74 if you change to manual you will begin with the stock volt. with this new mobo you move from auto to all the secletion in voltage.

The quad 9800Gx2 is great .. but .
1. I upgrade my cpu and I still have a huge CPU bottleneck

2. They are so big that 2 of them make the rest of the mobo slots unusable. Is the quad config or nothing

3. 2 produce a lot of heat.

4. Power sucking is huge.
