Okay...

Core 1 @ 3.045GHz
Core 2 @ 2.83GHz
Core 3 @ 2.62GHz

Well, It totally appears I have reached 3GHz on half my processor.

I probably can run them at 3.1 - 3.2GHz, even.. Still at full load, below 60C on my Zalman 9700 cooler. I'm sure it'd be hotter if the other two cores were at that speed too, but seeing as a couple refuses to run higer, that is not possible. but hey, this is great results.

I just wish the multipliers could be seperatelly set in the BIOS itself, though.

My RAM is running great at 1120MHz. I do not intend to raise the HT any higher. I mainly raised it for the RAM speed. RAM is unganged as well.

I did try Core 2 and 3 at 2.9GHz while cores 0 and 1 are at 2.60GHz, BSoD. I did this to make sure it was those cores, and yes, it's the fault of them... Though Core 2 is stronger than 3. lol
I have the exact same problem as you on the exact same cores at about the exact same speeds. I can hit what you have almost 100% stable at stock volts. I'm thinking about giving it another go this weekend and see if I can't get it stable.

I'm currently running at 2.7 on all cores at stock voltage, and so far been stable... Well, i quess I'll see how things go this weekend.

Good luck with it.

Seems I can't overclock Core 3 by much or it's BSoD time, instantly too. My voltage is turned up... Shows as 1.34Volts, while in the BIOS it's really 1.36V.

I did get BSODed over clock thing after a long while... but I don't know forsure which core... possibly Core 2.. I will just play with it some more.

Hey, am I the only one running the 9850 on a M2N32 SLI DX or a AM2 board?
Just wondering if any others are.

You can run the Phenom 9850 on that board? I did not know that. I thought it was just the Phenom 9500 and 9600s. Unless they updated it more since I last seen the updates. =\\

All Phenoms are suppose to be "compatible" with most AM2 boards.

Yeah they had a bios update which enabled phenom support.
Works like a charm to, minus the HT 3.0.

It does make me wonder... would I have better luck overclocking the Phenom 9850 on my older board? LOL

I was able to overclock the Phenom 9500 quite easily. From 2.2GHz to 2.55GHz and it's still going strong, other than needing better cooling, it'd be perfect, possibly. O_o

I have had mine for about 6 weeks now, i made an oc to 2850 mhz on my watercooling system with 1.28 V

I run the M2N32 SLI like a lot of you guys, and i am working on an app to attempt forcing the ht multiplier higher than 5x, i dont know if the 590 mcp can handle it but hopefully it will, even if i can only make it to 6x thats a good gain! and the clock generator could be used from there to raise it to
1380 or so figuring that the max HT base speed i see is 230!

according to amd the HT bus was designed to be capable of 40% more utilization than it is rated at, i wonder it thats really accurate?

.... you know what.... some how I think the Asus M2N32-SLI board may just be better than the Asus M3A32-MVP motherboard.... Why, you may wonder? Well, let me explain...

When I had my Phenom 9500 in this computer, I COULDN'T overclock it.... I used the FSB to overclock it, with that, I had a set of G.Skill RAM occupying all four DRAM slots... I don't know if that is what kept my overclock from being successful, even by a tiny bit... Like, I couldn't even get it to 2.3GHz... so I thought the processor was a bad one to overclock, which is why I got the Phenom 9850... well...

Recently, as I said, I overclocked my Phenom 9500 in my Asus M2N32-SLI bored, successfully from 2.2GHz to 2.55GHz... Works well. I wonder if something strictly on our M3A32-MVP board is preventing us from properly overclocking our processors.

I SHOULDN'T be running my Phenom 9500 at that speed... not yet... because it will get to 59 Degrees Celsius on 40 - 45% load.... I need to get a better cooler for that system... but I left it on day and night at the overclock, and the computer has never gotten a BSOD nor locked up. It's using 4GB of the G.Skill RAM I had in this PC... two DRAM slots used. PC2 8000 G.Skill RAM.

As of now I am curious on how well my Phenom 9850 will over clock on that board.... I swear, when I try it, and it is successful, I'm going back to my older Asus motherboard. o_O Or just forget about overclocking this PC. ^^;

All this is a major mystery...

I'm thinking something is restricting us also... I just tried for 2.8 again today, at 2.8 I can get damn close to stable, but no matter how much voltage I give it, Im never able to achieve 100% stability. It seemed though when I dropped the HT multi to 9x with cpu multi at 14x at stock volt, it appeared to be closer to stable.

I can always post at 3.0ghz but never able to boot to Windows. I can post and boot at 2.8 at stock volt but as soon as I send that multi to 15x to get 3ghz, no matter what settings I can't get to Windows.

I really do think something is holding this chip back, the thing is going to a halt with too little of an overclock at to low of voltage.
