Does the DFI LANPARTY DK 790FX-M2RS actually support DDR2 1066? Because according to the specs on NewEgg it only supports DDR2 800.
  • AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core
  • DFI LANPARTY DK 790FX-M2RS AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX
If you can OC it that high it will. I'm a noob, and having trouble getting my ref clock past 236.

I made a thread for this CPU/MB combination to share info. My current OC info is there.

My memory is running at 912Mhz right now.

The difference is higher quality parts nice NB cooling on the UT. I'd imagine it will OC a bit higher. I haven't had any heat problems so far though.

K I will go find that thread.

Well, I give up... It seems no matter how high I increase voltage or play with other settings, I can't get stable past 2.7ghz. So now, since I can't get performance, I'm trying to find a good balance between performance and temps.

I'm right now at 2700 mhz and 1.225 volts, getting ~44C idle, 56C load. Before at stock 1.3 volt, 2700 mhz, I was ~49C idle, 63 load. Room temps for both was 25C.

I'm sure most have you have seen this http://www.tomshardware.com/news/AMD-Phenom,5605.html. My question is, does anyone know if the same applies to the 9850BE?

I've read the max temp for this chip is 61C , I'd be careful with those temps.

Thats why I'm trying to get temps down now I really don't want to be over 55C but thats life. I'm hoping to get water cooling soon then hopefully my temp issue will do away. After water cooling I may get a new case with better air flow, mine is blump full and I can't get enough fresh air in it and i think that is really where my temp problem lies. I tried reseating the heatsink countless times with exact same results, so I know thats not it.

I love the antec 900 for air flow. I am running 2.812 at 1.25 volts and idles around 44c with all my fans on low and my processor fan at 50%. Water cooling will be my next purchase, thinking just cpu cooling. My graphics card idles around 37c full load only 48c.

I am very interested in the new chipsets. It will be very exciting with these six pins will do the trick.

I found my temp issue... I'm imparrassed to say... I shouldn't but here it goes... I have had my Zalman 9700 mounted vertically not realizing that it was also design for horizontal mounting I discovered it could be horizontal mounted when I was seaching more info on the 9850 and saw a pic with a guy having it horizontal. So I then went to Zalmans website here they had detailed installation instructions unlike the chezzy thing that came with it. When I saw them say S-bracket i realized that it could slip between the heatpipes, the lights turned on then.

So now my temps, they did drop, ~1C idle, ~4 load at 2.7ghz, 1.225V. I can't wait to see where they go after the AS5 has set in. Just did stress test, idle not is about 43C, and 54C load, room temp is up a bit from last post at 26C.

Now I'll see what kind of overclock I can get

AOD and Hardware Monitor, I have no complaints with either of them. The both agree with each other, the bios, and 1 other temp program, cant remember whiat it was.
