I found my temp issue... I'm imparrassed to say... I shouldn't but here it goes... I have had my Zalman 9700 mounted vertically not realizing that it was also design for horizontal mounting
I discovered it could be horizontal mounted when I was seaching more info on the 9850 and saw a pic with a guy having it horizontal. So I then went to Zalmans website here they had detailed installation instructions unlike the chezzy thing that came with it. When I saw them say S-bracket i realized that it could slip between the heatpipes, the lights turned on then.
So now my temps, they did drop, ~1C idle, ~4 load at 2.7ghz, 1.225V. I can't wait to see where they go after the AS5 has set in. Just did stress test, idle not is about 43C, and 54C load, room temp is up a bit from last post at 26C.
Now I'll see what kind of overclock I can get
