On Amd you get more out of lower timings then high mhz.

Also if I'm right more then 2G of ram may make it so you cant go as far and like the guy that has A Data ram that stuff is not that good maybe some of the problem. well hope this help some or maybe I just got a really good chip know idea.
Higher VCore does not really yield better results. These things are picky when it comes to that. I believe the actual max VCore is 1.55 but you are gonna need very good cooling to run it at that.

What timings do you suggest for my RAM? I'm at stock timings atm. Memory seems to be the most difficult thing master as a new OCer.
just slowly start lowering them if you are 5.5.5.15 then go 5.5.5.12 and slowly change one at a time. But you can not do that if your at 1066 or higher. You need to go 800mhz. as you change them once you go to low you will become unstable then back it down a notch.

Hello Everyone,

I am new around here.

I am starting a new Phenom 9850 BE build with MSI K9A2 Platinum Motherbaord.

My parts have started to arrive.

I am looking for startup tips, see below for the other system parts.

A couple things about this chip:

It seems to have a sort of ceiling for the FSB. Around 236 at DDR2 800, and 210 at DDR2 1066 speeds.

I don't suggest using AMD Overdrive. I have found it to be very unstable.

You can't let it get too hot, I keep mine under 58C when OCing, if it hits 58C I stop the test.

Although I've not OCed a Phenom, my AMD AM2/AM2+ systems seem to need a SB voltage increase to attain stability at higher OCs.
BTW, I found that to be true even if the RAM is under clocked, go figure

Need help, I have a DFI LP UT 790FX-MR2 mobo and a 9850 BE and I can't seem to get any OC stable. Its not even stable at 2.6ghz (200X13). Right now I'm at stock voltage, didn't think I need to up the voltage for a low OC. Any ideas
