Well I started overclocking my Phenom and so far the new 0811 Phenom overclocks way better than the 0809 one I had. I am able to run my Phenom at 2.81 without changing anything other than the multi and everything is stable... Prime95 gaming everything. I can change the multi to 14.5 and boot windows but it cant past prime95 or 3DMark06. the pc will just reset so I am thinking a powers issue probably? I don't really know much about overclocking but can anyone recommend any tips on making it stable at 2.9 with a 14.5 multi? I tried a 15 multi but The PC will not boot into windows like this.

Greetings,

Just built myself a new Phenom system (Build details here: http://www.overclock.net/amd-build-l...om-buiild.html). I am currently running at stock cpu and gpu speeds.

This was the result of my first 3dmark 2006 run:

Now its time to get overclocking and tweaking.

hold on there binarydemon, you need to check the core voltage on the CPU. you are putting 1.872 volts to your processor. that thing is stock around 1.25.

Hmm crazy since everything is set to auto, and I don't even see options to decrease core voltage, only increase it.

I think CPU-Z might be reading it wrong because in BIO's it shows CPU Core as 1.280.

Well I'll show you guys where I ended up for now:

For some reason the Foxconn A7GM-S AM2+ identifies the CPU correctly but doesnt allow me to adjust the CPU multiplier at all. So I overclocked by raising FSB. The option is greyed out and says AUTO. I couldnt find any other BIOS option that might effect this, so I have an email out to Foxconn. There is a BIOS update for my board, but it makes no mention of this fix so I decided not to try it yet. I hope there is a solution.

On and the reason I stopped at 2.75 ghz wasnt because I had any stability issues, my temps started to rise. It's about 50C idle / 60C load. All voltages are stock (dunno why cpu-z reads them wrong). Sadly, I don't think fixing my multiplier issue would effect temps at all. Guess I'll need to pick an aftermarket cpu cooler if I want to go much farther.

I would recommend my CPU cooler, it dropped my temps 10C from stock, but unless you have a wide case and a spacious mobo it's won't fit. It's a really tight fit on my mobo, it's pushing 1 of the ram sticks over like 2 - 4 degrees. If the heatsink wasn't touching the ram stick it would probably cool a couple degrees better.

The answer is ..... SB750 ! I have a new 790GX board with the new SB750 and now can overclock my 9850 far beyond before. Previously, I could not even post at 3.0Ghz (multi=15x), but now I can and am Prime95, OCCT, AOD, and idle stable using 1.3875V for cpu vcore. (In fact, before I was only stable at 2.7Ghz.) Of course this requires +2% on the new ACC function which is part of the 750 southbridge. I have not gone any higher yet. I am not too keen on going above 1.4v vcore which will probably be needed for 3.1 and above. Any thoughts on vcore limits? What is a "safe" upper limit?

Loving my Spider even more now!

Hello guys, any ideas how to get the M3A32-MVP / 9850BE combo. The reason is that I can not run it well and stable, over 3,2GHz. It just freezes... I am stuck with 3150@1,35V.
Does anybody have any idea how to go further, higher?

I have Muskin 1066MHz 4GB RAM, the board and CPU, 8800GT 512MB, medium watercooling with temps like 47~55C, and 550W PSU. Also I have many fans all over.
