Well i can tell you this, from my quick experience of Crysis @ 1920x1200 NO AA, DX10 Vista 32Bit ALL V.HIGH. It was silky smooth with one GX2. (My SLI GTX's couldn't do that).....just it got odd after 5mins of play and doesn't work for me in the benchmark tool. This was tested on an E6600 @ stock and just 2GB DDR2 667 and a 680i.
I think the 9800GX2 has a clear advantage, and it lies in PCI-E 2.0. Everyone knows that nothing can get near the bandwidth of PCI-E 1.0. But i'm guessing the 2x GPU's in a single slot is making the difference. Probably explains why they are performing so well....and why they are designed around PCI-E 2.0. I think they need that extra bandwidth.
