vs
any ~$200 8800GT

I'm building a new computer and need a decent card for ~$200.

what does overclock.net think?

The 8800GT definitely. It will blow the 3850 out of the water.

However you could also do SLI 9600GT's for the same money.

8800GT

The 1 gig on the 3850 doesn't do much, if anything (Unless you're trying to game at extremely high resolutions in which the 8800GT will still do a better job at)

so then between a single 8800gt vs 9600gt SLI, im assuming then the 9600's would be the better idea?

3850 can't take full advantage of 1GB ram because of its interface. 8800GTS G92 is better than 3870 so get a G92 8800GTS.

So many choices.

To be honest the 8800GT 512MB will please you more than enough.

That HD3850 is only for noobs who think vram is everything and those who want Quadfire running games on their superHD monitors that don't actually exist yet.
