M3A32-MVP & Phenom 9850? - Page 16

It seems it wasn't very stable after all, after half a day of running i got about 3 bluescreens.

So now this is my final thing, 2.9Ghz @ 48 degrees idle & 60 to 65 degrees full load with prime95 or cinebench x4

I'll probably lower the max temp to 60 when my 2 new 120mm fans arrive tomorow.

Screen attached

Edit: yup prime95 is running it's torture test for full load and max temp and so far no errors, @65/149 (C/F) degrees.

I'm happy with this result after 2 days of testing and poking, tomorow I'll add better coolers & an Asus 9800GTX TOP, pretty sure that'll run my games just fine

How do you make Prime95 load each core? I could never figure that out.

Well, I finally ditch the bios, couldn't get stable over 2.7Ghz, and I dont think it was stable at 2.7... just stable enough.

Made some good headway with AOD though, currently running cores 0, 1 and 2 at 2.9Ghz and core 3 at 2.8 I had cores 1 and 2 at 3.0 but they failed after 26 minutes and 5 hours of Prime95.

Hey Guys! I just built a totally new system. Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe, Phenom 9850BE, 4GB of 1066mhz Patriot Viper Performance, WD Raptor HD, 2x 3870HD Sapphire 512mb graphics cards with a 750w power supply. Was curious about what OCing can be done. I have done some research and found one guy posted up some specs he used and was wondering if anyone else has tried them, link is http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/t287825.html Chromaholic posted it and its a full list of bios that was done.

Well, default volts seem to be '1.3', or 1.296 actual, when at stock speeds. I may work with it a bit more, now, actually... but I think I just got a lesser batch of parts or something, that needs more effort to get as far as others. I realize variance happens in hardware.

Temperatures per core at stock idle, at least, with my Scythe cooling comes in around 38C, 41C for the 'TMPIN0' reading, I think it's called? Or is it 'TMPIN1'? .. the second 'TMPIN' value seems to come in around 36, and the last one jumps around the 70s and 80s (I think it's the MOSFET). Under load, I see a rise of no more than 6 degrees on everything except the MOSFET, which can jump up into the 120s. With some higher clock speeds, even when the CPU is idle, the MOSFETS hover in the 120s.

I figure I'd get better temps if I re-applied the thermal paste- I'm sure I put on way too much by accident, and forgot a step (something about twisting the cooler). However, the temps seem good enough, to me, so I don't think I'll mess with it until/unless I decide to upgrade the chip.

Quick question, after going through all 16 pages on this thread, I see quite a few people using the M3A32 MVP Deluxe and the Zalman 9500/9700 coolers. One post suggests that it can only be mounted vertically. My question is has anyone use either of these coolers in this motherboard with all 4 memory slots filled with Dominator memory(52mm tall) and if so, can it be directed towards the back of the case, to keep inline with my case airflow, but most importantly will it physically fit. If not, can anyone recommend a decent cooler for this setup. I wont be overclocking as of yet, just gaming, but would like to a decent cooler none the less, just not top of the line.

My CPU cooler sits aligned properly on this motherboard, and there's still room for both the 'Cool Mempipes' and the Dominator modules. In fact, my Scythe Mine sits just off of where the Dominator modules' fins are, so there's enough room. So long as the heatsink isn't larger than 110mm deep (from 'front' to 'back', or 'intake' to 'exhaust'), it should fit perfectly fine and not block any of the slots.

Same here, the only way the Zalman can be mounted is vertical and it just fits with maybe a couple millimeters to spare.

Edit: And I found it works best having the fan side of the cooler down so air flow moves up. My power supply can get very warm at times but tolerable, CPU temps was much lower this way though. When I had the fan at the top, power supply stay a tad cooler but CPU was several degrees hotter.
