Do you have the OC settings in BIOS set to Auto?

Did you also change HT multi or PCI bus speed?

Thanks!
Ever since I installed Vista I can't get stable over 2.8ghz in bios or AOD.

Yes when using AOD I left the OC settings in Bios in auto. Left HT and PCI in auto as well.
I have given up on OCing this thing since its just a waste of time...

I leave it at 2.79 ghz through bios settings now and just let it ride.

It hates me...

Sounds like your having the same problems I have had. I went back to 32-bit Vista and can easily hit 2.8GHz with less than stock volts and could possibly hit 3GHz if I had better cooling (still can't find my cooling issues, the thing is 6-8*C cooler at my moms than at home when home's room temp is only ~2* warmer).

I'm waiting for AMD's 45nm chips before going back to 64-bit.

Hello guys,

well I am kinda disappointed by the M3A32-MVP / 9850BE combo. The reason is that I can not run it well and stable, over 3,2GHz. It just freezes... I am stuck with 3150@1,35V.
Does anybody have any idea how to go further, higher?

I have Muskin 1066MHz 4GB RAM, the board and CPU, 8800GT 512MB, medium watercooling with temps like 47~55C, and 550W PSU. Also I have many fans all over.

any suggestions: Appreciated!

'medium watercooling' and 'fans all over' and only as low as 47~55C? I'm assuming the card, that is. Don't think the CPU should be allowed too far above 50. I have all air-cool and that sounds like my 4870's stomping grounds from idle to load, with rather low-audible fan performance (well, under load not so much - have it setup to ramp up to 60% speed once above 54C which keeps it from rising much more in most situations).

Anyway, I'm wondering when the M3A79-T hits the shelves. So I can at least add it to my Newegg 'Vega' build wishlist as I wait for the 45nm AMDs. Same for the Asus EAH4870X2.

(general fan config with the Asus is 40% while under 55C, 60% from there up, and as the temps approach 70C, full 100% speed to keep it from actually going over 69C, and at 80% above 64C, just as a mid-ground.. but this thread's not really about video cards, so ignore this if you wish)

Also, I have no idea why 3.2GHz would ever be considered disappointing with a 9850, unless expectations were unnaturally high based purely on hype and not actual facts, posted tests, or reviews. Far as I've read, that's one of the most consistent highest overclocks I've seen listed in places. The highest overall I can recall is 3.5GHz, posted somewhere by an OCZ employee or something. I think a few others have managed it, as well, though. Very few, from what I can tell.

If you can't wait for the Asus, Foxconn has a nice 790FX/SB750 out right now.

Foxconn is certainly tempting - they do have quite the reputation, from what I understand. Not been up on the motherboard scene for awhile, though. Only got really involved in looking at hardware this year. Started off with Asus as my last AMD socket board was an Asus that was acquired on a family/group outing to a local computer show years ago. A7V333. Athlon XP 1800+ Palomino. Still runs today. The experience of reliability's been with me since then, so I stick with Asus. The extras get me, too, like the fancy I/O paneling and the MVP Deluxe WiFi's 'cool mempipes', even though the Dominator DHX plates and fins are probably more than enough. And the 'coolstack' thing where they layer a sheet of copper (I think?) in the motherboard for improved heat transfer - whether it helps or not, it sounds like it makes sense, at least. Don't care much for the more software-related Asus features, though. But the design, layout, and such certainly seem good, or at least fit with my preferences.

EDIT: I am very seriously considering FoxConn for a build that I think I'll dub Vulpecula (after the constellation, to fit with the star themes), though, and give to a friend that happens to be a lady that likes foxes and techie geekiness, just for the amusement factor- from both of us, likely. (may name it a Japanese fox-based constellation or star name, though, considering her other interests, but that's a bit harder to work out)

if anybody wants to overclock with this mainboard and also for normal using, he should cool special following points

if not, the mainboard would be demaged after a while

here are photos of my mainboard mod

also there are many bugs in the bios and so i telephone many times with asus

i send them folowing buglist of the 1202 bios

V-Core:

Use the Mainbaord with an Phenom

at the moment i dont have an phenom at home. after one month i had an phenom at home and find out folowing realy big bug!

not at all, but at different CPU multiplakater combinated with different HT the bios set the clock of the CPU at 3000+ Mhz and than the computer dont boot.

A little hard to understand, there, Wein (especially near the end- I have no idea what you're trying to say about the CPU and HT connection, which is distressing considering I have a Phenom), but I got most of it. Thankfully it all seems like things I've avoided (I don't push voltages to those kind of extreme levels, for one). Not sure about cooling those chips... maybe case airflow helps for me? I noticed quite a bit of the Marvell chips are marked, if not all. I don't use the onboard networking, nor the RAID functions- just the IDE emulation for the SATA - so maybe since they aren't actually under stress, they don't have problems. Same for the Azalia sound, since I have a dedicated X-Fi card.. though I can't tell which chip is the onboard sound on the M3A32 just this moment.

Good information overall for everybody, it seems, anyway, if they can decipher your English (I figure you're not a native English speaker, so understandable)

I have my 9850BE running @ 2800MHz.
Wanted to c if I could get it to a higher clock. I did get it to 3GHz but it's not stable, maybe adding some Voltage to the CPU-NB could help? I don't know what voltage it is set right now cuz in the BIOS it only says: "auto"...

My current settings:

As you can c my HT is at 1848MHz but I set it to 1.6 in my BIOS to make sure it wouldn't get higher than the NB frequency which is @2310 (MP=10x).
Same goes for Voltage, I put 1.375V on the cpu but CPU-z tells me it's 1.36V
I underclocked my PC8500 DDR2 dimms and run them @ 677

When trying to OC the CPU, I first tried to raise the busspeed, but somehow it just wouldn't work.
When using settings as this:
*bus 240
*CPU-MP 12x
*NB-MP 9x (CPU-Z 2160MHz)
*HT-Link set to 1.8 (CPU-Z says 2160)(2160/240 = 9, so HT-MP is set to 9 somewhere)
PC fails to start and shows me a cpu speed of 3GHz?!? 240*12 = 3000?!?!? to me this still is 2880MHz
When using 240 / 11x / 9x / 1.8 pc start up nicely.

So somehow the NB gets to the point that the HT-Link freq. is getting hoigher than the NB-Freq. So it just won't boot? So what Techtrancer_Wien already said, sumfn is wrong with the CPU-MP and HT-MP.
Another weird thing is that you can not set the HT-MP (set to 9 standard?) and you can only select a frequency you want it to run at. But when in windows the HT link is 200MHz higher?!?
1.8 setting in Bios results in a 2000 in windows...
