Does consoles have any kind of modding culture?
Is there any Unreal Tournament 3 modifications for example?
Any user created maps?

This is very important part in pc gaming.
The PS3 does have a couple mods for UT3, the 360, I'm not sure about.

360 doesn't even have UT3.

I don't believe there is a large (if it is even big, probably small-medium sized) modding community for consoles.
A modding community for consoles goes against the backbone of consoles. Simplicity. It is not NEARLY as important to the console sector as the PC sector.

BTW, 6 days to GT5 and 19 to GTA4 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People are jealous. Sheesh. I could have bought a 9800GX2, instead I chose the wise decision of buying a PS3(mainly because of the Blu-Ray) and an 8800GT. In the end, I got a decent GPU that can play all my games maxed out at 19x12(css,tf2,hl2,bf2) and I got a good console that will let me take full advantage of my 1080P LCD. Computers will always be superior to consoles for gaming but most people would rather pay 400$ to play a 60$ game with decent looking graphics as opposed to building a 3,000$ PC that will be worth half that in 1 Year. Unless you use your PC for your business and whatnot, it's an expensive investment, while the the 360/PS3 is a more cheaper investment that will maintain most of it's value for awhile. As for that person who listed a 1,100$ LCD, that's one overpriced TV. My 37' Westy does one hell of a job for 800$. No lagg,blurr whatsoever in any pc and console game. Although if you want to pay 1,100 for a 32', go ahead.
No one said you need to spend $3,000 dollars on a PC dude. I can a build a decent PC which can match the price of both the xbox360 and the ps3. The main problem is about the damn compatibility issue(i.e. Hardware support) only a few developers really think twice about whether or not to really strain the h/w. Just look @ half-life2 dude, it looks amazing and plays amazing do you need a 3,000 dollar computer to play it? NO. Why well the programmers at valve know how to properly optimise a game and not to mention their developer are clever in what they do. Blame the developer for making such a crap optimised game not the box.

The computer is the forefather of consoles. If it weren't for the computer you wouldn't have your consoles in the first place.

I wonder how badly Crytek had to code Crysis if they can get the same game running on a PS3 for 400 dollars that needs a 1000 dollar computer to do the same.

Half Life is excluded, plus it's from 04. You still have to spend more on a PC then buying a console.
CPU-80$
MB-100$(assuming you want to oc)
RAM-2GB 30$
PSU-80$
CASE-100$
DVD Drive-30$
OS-80$
KB & Mouse-50$(cheap keyboard)
HDD-80$
9600GT=130
Total=$770

PS3=400-500
Xbox 360=350$(not too sure about it's retail price)

PS3 can be loaded with Linux to have nearly all the same functions as a PC. Not to mention it will outfold you're budget PC. It also has Blu-Ray. Now is the PS3 superior to your PC. In conclusion, consoles are great for people on a budget. You can probably build a similiar PC for less but you never want to cheap out on stuff like the PSU. If you search for Used parts, you'll save money although buying a used console will also save you money wich would kill the comparison. IMO, they're isn't any game worth spending 1-2k on. My rig can play Crysis decently. I'll stop here, this is my opinion.

What kind of Case and PSU are you even listing? Unless you are going a tad bit overboard on the PSU and case, then yeah. A decent PSU can cost $50 (antec Earthwatt), and a case can be had for $30 (Coolermaster cases). Heck, a Mushkin 550W Modular PSU can be had for real cheap, and it is no slouch either.

Questions arise such as: Is the gaming going to be like what happened to Far Cry on console? Linear? Is the game going to actually going to suffer in terms of some graphical loss in some areas that eat up more power then others (shadows, particle effects).
