im pretty sure the keyboard works.....when i turn the computer on it lights up.

The computer has nothing on it so im not missing hitting the del key....it just stays on that screen and won't respond to the keyboard.

that makes it sound like it freezing instead of the keyboard not being reconized

the memory is ok'ed when it runs through that but then just waits for an input....the code just stays on too.

on a side note...when it starts the ps/2 key board has its cap lock num lock and scrool lock flash but then i can't toggle them on or off....is it not getting power past that initial jolt?

Ick. You have a hardware conflict. Have you tried going barebones?
