PCMCIA slot for dsktop?

Thread Starter
My friend has a Verizon PCMCIA card for his laptop internet connection and asked if they make a PCMCIA slot for the front of a desktop so he can use his Verizon card for his desktop internet connection.I thought maybe they would make one that fits in a drive bay but have not had any luck finding one.Does anybody know if they make such a thing and were I might find one?I know they make routers that can use his card but I was looking for a more economical solution. Thanks for any input.

What model verizon card? I just got a PC card reader for him. I went to set it up and found out that this particular model doesn't work with a reader. I forget the model, (1540 maybe??) I would do some googling.

I thought so, but when I looked into it, it turned out to be a windows thing. The card reader was found, but when I ran the set-up, it would ask you to insert the card, but would never recognize it. I found a bunch of people who had the same issue with that card and I found no answer. I'll try to find more specifics.

Not saying it won't work, just that I bought it expecting it to be plug-n-play. It could very well have been user error, but I tried everything I could and couldn't get the card to be read. I just returned it and he got a USB one.

Thanks for the warning.I'll find out which card he has and I'll call verizon tomorrow and see what they recommend. You would think this is a very simple thing but apparently not.I found two that go in drive bays on newegg but they had horrible reviews.I also found that they have routers that accept these cards but they're like $200.I'll post back any info i get in the next day or two.
