To crossfire or not to crossfire.

That is the question.

I currently own one 3870x2, and I mostly use this pc for gaming. I mainly play FPS including cod4, crysis, rainbow six vegas 2(next week), and of course the older games cs:s etc.

Should I buy another x2? Will I see drastic differences at 1920x1200?

I never understood why ppl would ever crossfire or sli a system...

Ther performane gain is CRAP.. 10-30%
and your paying a Full 100% for the GPU..

JUST buy the latest GPU, instead of 2x a cheaper model..

A UPGRADED GPU IS ALWAYS FASTER THEN 2x

If u done belive me ..

3870 two of them = over 400$
X2 = SAME price + out performs BY ALOT

In my oppnion wait it out for a lil bit.. N grab the LATEST GPU
----

8800 GTX tow of them = Over 600$
9800 x2 = like over 500$ + OUT PERFORMS BY ALOT...

Only thing that 2+ gpus are worth it is.. If u like the PIMP factor.. Or just crazy Rich.

wait it out n grab the next ati that comes out

yeah i couldnt disagree more how about you show me where you see that a GX2 out performs 2 GTX's in sli or that an X2 out performs 2 3870's... to the OP i would just Xfire your X2 with a regular 3870 you see nearly the same gains for much less

I dont get why people say not to. I Love multi-GPU Theres just something about it.

generally people who go sli are people who buy 2 best on the market cards, or people who already own one and are looking for a performance boost, but don't want to shell out $400 for a card when they can get a boost that satisfies them for $250.

Grabbing another x2 certainly would help you, but the differences might not be drastic. You'll be able to up the settings in crysis, but odds are you can play cod4 full settings with one x2, and a single x2 shreds the older games.

I think he means just but a regular 3870...you can "bastardized crossfire" them. An X2 and 3870 will crossfire fine.

Like the dude above me said, it's called tri-fire.

What OS are you running?

If XP 2 GPU's is the max it can use.

Vista support Crossifre X.
