NOOB 790i and e8400 Overclock - Page 2

Make sure to set your ram voltage to whatever your ram is rated at.
Mine is 1.9v; default is 1.5v if I leave it @ auto; which is way to low.

My OCZ ram runs at 1600Mhz @ 7-6-6-16-1t @ 1.9v on my 790i Ultra (just installed it yesterday ).

Wattes likes to live on the edge xD. You have the 7-7-7 platinum series as well ?

Anyways, I saw I made a mistake, you have 1333mhz ram and want to get 1500mhz... stick with rated settings and like wattes said leave voltage on default ( dont go above 1,9v with ddr3 ), put mem on 1500mhz and see what happens ( or doesnt happen ). Probably should increase timings if it wont boot, otherwise you can start decreasing the values one at a time ofcourse.

okay so what i could do is link it, and then just up the voltage to 1.7 is what its rated at i think, and then just go one by one to lower the timings?

That's about it. Make sure you test each setting very good, since booting into Windows doesn't mean it's stable

@MovieM: And my Platinum EB Memory is rated 7-6-6-20 @ 1600Mhz @ 1.9v if I remember correct.

Dont link the fsb with your memory, leave it unlinked and set the fsb and memory manually, bump up your voltage to the rated values and start off with the rated latencies aswell. See what it does and be sure to test every adjustment you make. From there either up the latency or lower it, depending on your test results.

Hello guys, I just built myself a nice machine. I really want to overclock my CPU, Graphic Card, and Memory sticks. Is there a step-by-step to do these kind of overclocking? thank you

Here's what i did leave it linked and synced for as high as you can get itwitch is probably 1333, after you find that threshold unlink it start to push vcore and fsb for cpu to were you want it mind your temp. after the cpu is were you want it set that corsair ram at 1400 fsb timings at 8-8-8-24-1t (nvidia loves 1t timings) set your memory volts at 1.7 this will give you a reading of
10k read speed with a latency of about 54.3ns, with the 790i go to 1.41 vcore at least, if you can cool it. these setting rip on my setup which is close to yours i have the same ram and MoBo let me know how it worked
