Can’t resume Windows from hibernate on your 32-processor supercomputer? Apply this patch.

It’s not uncommon to come across a patch for a software problem you’ve never heard of or thought was possible. In most cases they’re caused by an unconventional use-case or a bad combination of hardware/software configurations. Sometimes the symptoms are so exceptional it makes you ponder about who in the world would be affected by it in the first place. I wouldn’t be surprised if in this case it was just one person. The Microsoft KB article speaks for itself.

I beg to ask, who discovered the problem, what was the fault, who uses a consumer operating system on a supercomputer and what would happen if you had 31 or 33 processor?
LOL, i've got one processor and face the same issue

Im not quite sure how to take that, but you should go to bed, same here, since i have school in 3.5 hours.

The guy at M$ who wrote this must have a boring job, things like this probably prevent him from killing himself.

i have this same problem with my laptop... hibernate mode cant be disabled, even when i tell the computer to never go into hibernate mode... Once i leave the pc alone for no more than 10 min, it goes into hibernate mode... Then i have to pull the battery and cold reboot the laptop... Whatever wasn't saved when the pc goes into hibernate, gets lost...

This is a pain in the ass to deal with, especially when you spend 2 hours taking detailed notes in the middle of class, then my computer freaks out and loose my notes... I did get into the habit of pressing ctrl + s to save my work every few minutes to save the document, and to not leave the computer go into hibernation....

MS sucks... I put Ubuntu on it and have no problems what so ever... Other than not being able to run word, or VS. And in my opinion, those are not at all a problem... C compilers are so much better in Linux, better debuggers, and many more options to change whatever you want....

What I want to know is if it affects supercomps with 32 discrete procs(that's alot of Pentiums...) or 32 logic cores on 8 discrete procs, or if it doesn't give a **** either way...
