OK, I am getting a Q6600 (finally) and am planning to cool it my my loop. It is only a 240 rad, so I think I need to start tweaking to get every last C out of it that I can.

I am planning to flush my loop and add some fresh collant. I would like UV red and am curious as to what you all think will yield the best results. I am a cheap sob, so anywhere I can save money, I will. At the same time, I don't want to regret not spending a little now and have issues later.

I have been using distilled water, PT nuke, UV dye and a small amount of dish soap. This has worked well for me (even though the coolant is kinda cloudy, I blame the dye ) I am torn between this same mix or buying some brand name stuff. Feser One is suppose to have the same if not slightly better cooling properties. At the same time, it is $20 plus shipping where as the home brew with red dye is only $9. I like the idea of non-conductive coolant, but that isn't a really big deal. What would you do?

I voted for "other".

imho, one of ira-k's concotions would be a good fluid.

I have some Feser, so I am gonna give that a go also.

Since it is not on your list, I won't bad-mouth FluidXP. It looks great, but the perfomance insofar as viscosity is concerned is a little disconcerting.

Yeah, the only brand name coolant I would be willing to try is feser. It is the only one that seems to perform on par with water. I am more concerned with performance over looks.

Good call.

Maybe take a look at some of Martinm's tests. He is also another person to approach when you have technical questions in this field.

Check around for his Threads on OCN - very informative.

Personally, I'll stick with Distilled water and one of the following:
Swiftech HyDrX (using now)
PT Nuke plus pentosin (have, but never used)
PrimoChill Liquid Utopia (used in the past)

The only all-in-one I'd consider is PrimoChill ICE. I just don't have any particular reason or desire to stray from this list.

This is what I'd do as well, and I think it makes up the core if Ira-k's list anyways. I'm currently using PC Ice, and it works pretty well. I haven't compared it to anything else though. Some people have had issues with it foaming, BTW.

I have some PT nuke, so it would just be a matter of picking up some pentosin. It is cheaper and, if the performance is the same as feser....

Distilled H2O and pentosin. I believe you can buy pentosin from any high performance car dealer...or you can buy some from Shoppts.com (Petra's).

I use a mix of Fluid XP's.
I used the Black and the UV green and add in half a bottle of Frozen CPU Alien Green UV Dye

That way if you look in the Rez it looks black but as it thins out in the tubing it is green and then you light it up and it glows a nasty green goo color ..
