Antec 900 and intake fan filters...

Hi all. I just got an antec 900 for $99 at Fry's yesterday (odd--that's cheaper than newegg...). I'm a bit miffed that my aging PSU's power cords aren't long enough to do efficient cord management (it's fugly right now...), but I'll fix that in the future.

My real question/concern is about case dust--there are a few threads around here regarding excessive dust on/in the case due to the high airflow (it's not a 24/7 rig, and all fans are on low), so I wanted to get some filters. Sure, you could use some old pantyhose (see quote in sig...lol), but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with separate 120mm fan filters like this one: http://shop3.outpost.com/product/342...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

It comes out to about three bucks apiece, and likely I'll just drive to my local frys and pick them up if anyone thinks they're compatible with the case and worth it (I'm not sure how much clearance room is necessary--I might have to take off the front metal flaps...). I'm just concerned that the filters will get crapped up and not friendly to cleaning them off... Any alternatives/suggestions? Thanks!

just don't put anything dusty near the case and vacuum it out every once in a while.. mine is sitting on the floor on high speed and not that much dust in there.

Yeah? Hmm... My concern is I moved my case to the floor (was sitting on my desk right next to me, but I'm used to the near-silence of my previous case--not that the antec 900 with fans on low is loud, just louder than I'm used to). I wonder if elevating it with a few books or whatnot would be better...

Thanks for the reply!

I actually just recently got a couple of these fan filters and they have bee working very well. They're only $2 each too. Here's a picture of what mine look like:

Unfortunately, you can't put fan filters in front of the intake fans in the 900, so you'll probably have to clean the dust off of your intake fans every once in a while. Just use two screws in the unused holes on the front fans for mounting the filters.

Ah, good info-- +rep to ya. I don't so much care if the fans themselves are dusty as long as the dust inside the computer isn't too bad.

Yeah, but it's impossible to put the fan filters in front of the intake fans in the 900. Would you rather clean dust out of your entire PC, case and components, every few months? Or would you rather clean dust out of fan filters every couple months and clean out the entire PC every year or two? I choose the latter.

The filters are unnoticeable. It's sometimes even hard to see them when you look really closely at the front.
