Intel DG33SXG2 / How to adjust Front side bus

Thread Starter
Hello all! I would like to overclock my computer; although, i can not seem to find any info on it.
I have a Gateway GM5485E, Quad core Q6600. This is my first attempt to overclock. As i understand it, i just need to adjust the front side bus; although, it is greyed out in the BIOS and i can not find any jumpers on the motherboard info from Gateway. http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERB...06194Rnv.shtml

I read that this computer easily overclocks from 2.4 Ghz to 3 Ghz. Does any one know how to do this?

Thanks for reading........

Hi William, I've been doing a lot of research on this issue for my GT5628, which has the same board and processor. What I've found out is that you cannot overclock the FSB at all. The clock generator they used on this motherboard is not equipped with the registers that let you manipulate the FSB manually and ignores all attemps to do so. As such, it's only capable of producing exactly three speeds: 200, 266, and 333 Mhz.

That being said, you can fool the system into thinking your processor is a model with a 333Mhz bus. You have to cover one of the BSEL contact pads on the bottom of the processor. The BIOS will still report the processor at 2.4GHz and the FSB at 266MHz, but Windows and CPUz report the speed at 3.00GHz and FSB at 333MHz.

Hey

You CAN unlock these greyed out options. The OEMs such as dell , hp , gateway etc hide these options to prvent people messing around then the manufacturer having to solve the problem.

Il Download the latest bios for your board and unlock everything i can

You can then OC to your hearts content!!!!

Good Luck , il get back to you soon
