Please Help- Which card to get under budget and PSU???

Thread Starter
Right now I have a geforce 7300gs... not too good. I want to upgrade to a better Nvidia card (probably an 8 series) but I have two restrictions. I was looking at the 8800GTS for only $115, but it recommends that the +12V have at least 26A- my Ultra X-Fininity (500W) only has 18A on the +12V.

Can you guys PLEASE help me choose a card that is NO MORE THAN $125 (including shipping) and that will work with my power supply.

I also want (but don't necessarily need) DX10 and 320MB+ or RAM.
PCIE-16X

Thanks a lot guys.

EDIT: OR, is it worth it to buy a new PSU that can hold these higher cards, such as this CORSIAR one?

Given these restrictions, I would say the best choice would probably be an 8600GT 256MB. Decent overclocker, reasonably low power draw, and in your price range. May even be able to find a GTS for <125, if so, I'd go for that.

Get a 8600GTS, im sure you could find one for that money.

As my power supply only has 18A on the 12V+ rail as well, no problems here.

Spending extra $10 for Corsair 550VX, then you can pick a 8800gs or 9600gt around %125 price range.

Extra $10??? You must mean extra $60 .

Thanks a lot and REP + for everybody that helped.

Now I have to decide which 8600GTS to get. I'm looking for more than 256MB.
Thanks in advance

The extra $10 refers to the Corsair 450 PSU in OP.

Oh, I am so sorry about that. Well I decided I'll stick with my PSU.

I was just looking at the 8600GTS w/512MB and it needs +22A .

Which would be better, a GT w/512MB or GTS w/256MB?

No use in getting an 8800GTS and A PSU if your running a single core 3500+ cpu. YOu should look into a 7900 or an 8600
