Need help choosing a video card - Page 2

I know, but if you cable your IDE intelligently it will work. You get the non-Tied IDE's and fold them. I took pics of my Xbox to explain, as Microsoft did it perfectly.

A little intelligent folding and a $5 IDE cable should fix that problem.

I do not mean to be rude but I did it much more efficiently than that by making it nearly 1/4 in diameter and completely hidden behind the motherboard. It is not the wire itself that is getting in the way, it is the slot where you plug the wire into. If you referred to my pictures, you would have noticed.

I would go for the 8600Gt or GTS if on a budget. Good bang for buck and can be overclocked quite high.

Also looking at your pics, it looks like a longer gpu card would just fit under and over that ide connector. remember the cards go in with the main body facing down (away from that ide slot) and also most 8800's give a little clearance away from the pci-e slot so it would be tight but i would bet it would go with a bit of gentle persuasion. The 8800gs is a damn good card BUT if it really wont fit then knock down to the 8600 series which is shorter.
Its a pain in the arse, i have the same prob with my xfx 780i board as it has two usb headers and various other connecters in the same sort of place so when there are my two 8800GT's sitting in there, there is very little distance between card and mother board connectors and cables and some are even touching and bent right back to fit behind the gpu's.
Good luck with it.

I reread it twice and looked at the pictures, and still did not really understand what is in the way (As for the only 2 inches). I own 2 8800 cards, so I know the overly large dimensions, I guess I simply do not understand whats stopping the cards.
However, since I clearly misunderstood, then you are in no way rude and my comments are in no way relevant, so no harm done.

Good choice - my friend had one of these and clocked it up to the same spec as the gts with NO volt mods, just riva tuner.

Thanks everybody who helped, I ended up purchasing an eVga 8600GT and I love it. I got it so fast and it performs very well.

I would say XFX 8600 GTX XXX Edition. I have used XFX before and they are great service and products. This card i think is 70$ at TigerDirect.

Hopes this helped,

I wanted the XFX but I prefered Evga's warranties and such.. which are now screwing me over since they are telling me the card has been registered already but whatever.
