My New Gaming Build [ Need Advices ]

Hi guys,

I tired to chose this information and I asked a pro-gamer he gives me this gaming build but i change some of it. I decided to change my pc because I want a new upgraded gaming build. Here's the list of the parts.

Case: Gigabyte 3D Aurora
Motherboard: MSI N6P-SLI Platinum
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB)
H.D.D: Western Digital 160GB (2 x 160GB)
Graphic Card: GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 ( I have it already )

and some of another part like dvdwriter, etc..

I need an advice if this part look perplexing or some upgrade.

Go with a G.Skill 2x2gb ram chip. It's cheaper than crucial, gives you great performance, and 4gb is better than 2. Just make sure you go with a 64bit OS. I would also upgrade the video card, the 8600gt will struggle with a lot of games if you want to use high settings.

I would just get a single 320gb harddrive, it would be cheaper then buying two lower capacity drives. Also a different motherboard.

Swap the Processor for E8400. Or if you are doing folding as much as gaming or multimedia stuff stick with Q6600. And I also think you need a better video card 8800 GT is fine for now. And what resolution do you game at. Also whats up with ur psu I need to know the specs of it or it may cause problems. Some kind of 16 X SATA should be a fine DVD ROM if u want better ones go with lightscribe ones.

Case: Gigabyte 3D Aurora - Might look at Antec 900
Motherboard: MSI N6P-SLI Platinum - Look at Asus, gigabyte, etc.
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - There's the new Q9300
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) - Nice - Might want 4 gb but 2 is nice - if you go 4gb you need 64 bit windows or else it will only sees 3.5 gb.
H.D.D: Western Digital 160GB (2 x 160GB) - Might want to look at the 500 gb WD5000AKKS
Graphic Card: GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 ( I have it already ) - Ok for now, you might want to look at eVGA 8800 GT, 9600 GT, or a 8800 GTX later.

and some of another part like dvdwriter, etc..

CD/DVD: Any Lite-On combo drive. or LG.
1-2 80mm fans for the case. or 120mm depending on your case.
Fan&Heatsink for your CPU - Preferably OCZ Vendetta 2 and arctic silver 5 or OCZ thermal paste

Hum... that's about it.

ok guys i confused about the ram g.skill or crucial ??
And i'm looking for the 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3.
i like the Rosewill RCX-Z5-Ultra cooler how about it ??
and what about OCZ Reaper is this a nice ram and did i have to 4 gb (2 x 2GB)??
8800GTS 640MB is outdated...the 8800GT 512mb has less memory, but performs much better. If you look in the deals section, there's a great deal for an ATI Hd3850 for $115. That rosewill cooler sucks BTW, get something like the thermalright ultra 120 extreme, or even my cooler (it does a hell of a job for $20). If you want 4GB of ram, you need a 64-bit OS, FYI.

havent heard anything about it at all...normally i wouldnt recommend a rosewill PSU, but apparently this one is pretty decent: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182017

five bucks more, but 2A more on each 12v rail as well as a 550w rating.

and dont you mean "PSU"?
