Gaming headphones meaning they have a built in mic? Or just headphones for gaming.

Take a look at Sennheiser PC156's I've got them and absolutely love them. They are extremely comfortable, I've worn them for 10 hours at a time before and didn't get any ache. I never hear anyone complain about my mic sounding scrambled or muffled.

I don't know how well you can get the over in the UK, but here's the link to them at Newegg

go for the icemat siberias or the SteelSounds 5H, they will work perfect for CS 1.6...not only have i had personal experience with these, but in CPL or anyother professional cs leagues, many pro's use these headphones.

of course get these headphones with the USB soundcard that comes with them, unless you already have a better soundcard

the bundle with the USB soundcard isnt a whole lot more FYI

EDIT: you have the xtrememusic, and that should do plenty fine

If you want open ear go with IceMat Siberia. I had that headset and it is KILLER! You can find it for around $50 on buy.com/newegg. If that is not up your alley, the SteelSeries headsets are all great quality and are slightly more expensive but a great product.
