Here's my understanding in a nutshell.

If I had a Xfire board, I'd buy this card in a heartbeat..

Unless a miracle driver surfaces, (and it didn't within the 30 day return period), 2x9800gx2 just isn't happening.

If it's repackaged, it's not gonna shake the world. This is combined repackaging...

Remember when the 8800gtx's came out?? It was new technology and it rocked...

My hopes were high, my resources aren't.

I hope you don't get stuck holding the $1200 bag..

Well, I'm extremely pleased with this card. Maybe it doesn't scale well in SLI, but I don't have an SLI'able board, so that's not moot in my situation. If G200 really is just around the corner, well... I'll just have to buy one of those as well /typesfastsowifecan'tread

Nuclear, just noticed we have the same display. Love my Samsungs!

If you have any saved games prior to a crash in Crysis, and then are experiencing poor performance, try moving those saved games to another directory and then restarting Crysis.

The GX2s are powerful cards. Their game performance is much better than their 3DMark performance would indicate.
As I own 2 GX2s, I'm hoping SLI scaling will improve with more mature drivers, but that is a wait and see approach. I don't blame nuc for his lack of patience for a $1200 purchase. Performance should be expected when spending that kind of money........unless it's a cpu

My friend,

Of course you are right. It is a shame to release a product incapable of meeting its expectations. Unfortunately, it seems to be a trend with a lot of hardware vendors these days. Sadly for those hoping for better quad SLI performance, the nightmares of the 7950GX2 may well play out once again. For you, Nuclear, and Mhill, I hope (and honestly believe) that won't be the case.

I suppose it's selfish in a way that I'm so happy with my card when so many are having problems with it, but I am doing my best to help them whenever possible (I'm quite active in the Nvidia forums).

In the meantime, I hope future driver releases address your issues, Litlratt and Mhill. You guys helped me out so much with the P5N32-E, please let me know if there's anything I can do to return the favor!

Cheers,

d

I'm sure Quad SLI aint working for me......according to Crysis Bench Tool (Build 6156) i get the following:-

1280x1024 DX9 ALL HIGH = 45.575
1680x1050 DX9 ALL HIGH = 41.37
19001200 DX9 ALL HIGH = 40.37

1680x1050 DX10 ALL V.HIGH = 34
19001200 DX10 ALL V.HIGH = 23

But in game @ 1920x1200 DX10 ALL V.HIGH running around i average between 37 ~ 55fps with 44FPS being the mean frame...

I hate to break up your party man, but like you said, you played Crysis a little bit. You will see how bad the card is as you keep playing. I was playing Crysis with a 3.6 GHz quad with similar settings at 1920x1200, it is nothing to write home about. Actually get MORE choppiness and slowdowns then my Ultra, it didn't matter that my FPS was higher, the game ran bad as did most games I played. It was sickening when Sins of a Solar Empire was bogging down my mighty 9800GX2. Like I said, I really hope they get this straight because you could tell that there is some serious potential with the card, but as coginthewheel said, the next gen is in July, and if they can't get this card up to snuff by then I have a feeling we won't be hearing much from the 9800's after that.

Nobody even knows if the 9900GX2 etc are even genuine....could be nothing more than BS.

Anyway, continuing on into my testing i have confirmed that i'm certainly not running under QUAD SLI....regardless of what the Nvidia CP is telling me.
