1. Go into your options and switch on the option to show player names in the center of the screen instead of up in the corner. The names of CTs will be blue and Ts will be red. That's how you can quickly tell them apart from a distance. Also, if they're shooting at you then they're usually on the other team.

2. You have to switch to knife

3. If you buy something you don't want then you hit "G" for drop and you buy something else but you don't get your money back and anyone else can pick up your gun that you threw away.

A few tips for you in counter strike.
Never go alone or with too many people, a crowd might seem like a force, until some one who is somewhat decent kills EVERYONE with a p90 in 2 seconds, including you
going alone, while ur new, is suicide, you lack the map and weapon knowledge needed to attack the enemy team, which will surly attack you
do not expect to survive your first 100 match's, at all, and don''t say I suck, thats just what usually happens, noob's don't live through the match
Id recommend you use the H&K MP-5 gun, it is a very accurate nub friendly gun, but skilled players really show this guns potential, 2 hits in the head kill.
also, do not attempt to knife people unless absolutely certain you hit them BEFORE They see you (a knife in the back)
as a pistole, first you must master the USP, then move on to the desert eagle.
Always keep on the move unless hiding from fire, and even then think of on escape route because grenades are bound to come flying and GRENADES arent your friends :S

if you want furthur tips, and map specific tips from me, PM me. i have some 2 years of CSS under my belt

The best advice I can give is to pair up with somebody that plays well on your team. That way you can see where they go, how they move about the map, and you're not alone.

Also, don't get too trigger happy. If you can't hit them with a few clicks of MP5, then you're just wasting ammo. Master the MP5 first, then step up to the M4A1, and if you're really good, try the AK-47.

Feel free to PM me as well; I've been playing CS since beta 2 on a Pentium 233MHz.

Burst fire!!! Never "spray and pray" as they like to call it (holding down the trigger) because this is never accurate unless you know what you're doing. Try firing 1-3 bullets at a time from an auto and then let off so the recoil doesn't throw you out of whack.

When it comes to knifing, you have to right click. This will do 55 damage instead of like, 10-15 or whatever a left click does.

If attempting to use the awp (sinper rifle) you cannot be moving at all while shooting. If you want start sniping, try using the scout. With this gun you're able to move around while shooting and still retain some accuracy. Good luck!

Decent and p90 should only be used in the same sentence as: "Decent people don't use the p90 unless they're joking around because it's a piece of garbage."

As for you calling it a match...it's called a round.

Also, stick to the m4 and the ak. The mp5 is good if you can't afford the other two. Once you get good, give the awp a try.

yup try using these guns and stick to tapping or burst fire, also the most important thing is to buy kevlar and helmet before you buy any thing else and get good at gun stealing if you are starting to play cs lack of kevlar and helmet will be your biggest downfall. i would suggest you to play as t for a while and try out the ak-47 with tap firing,1)since its easier to play as a t
2)its cheaper than the m4 so you can buy it almost every round
once you learn the ak-47 tap fire to get headshots, you can say that you have pretty much learnt cs,only nuances left are 1)spray and pray 2)awp laming 3)doing team objectives
