Even if it does perform better, AMD is going to swoop in and take the mainstream market with their smaller die and smaller manufacturing process flexibility.

However, with all of these different "specs" (and by that I mean specifications and speculations), I'm holding off until we get something more official from Nvidia and AMD.
Indeed so. 600mm^2 would make the die as large as an entire LGA775 CPU package. Even the current Montecito Itanium has a smaller die size, and it has 1.72 billion transistors on a 90nm process. So I think I'm gonna call BS on this article.

From what I've heard from other threads (Tried use search, but we all know how good that thing is.) RV770 will have 480SP and GDDR5 on a 256bit interface.

As far as I'm concerned, the GT200 does not exist. First it was rumored to be in the 9800GTX, then the 9900GTX, and it still hasn't come out. I don't care how many rumors come out, it's not real until it's realistic.

Oh well speculation tends to make everyone confused.

EDIT : Read the performance comparison.

RV670+50% und mehr
G80+100%

. . . .. .

Look at how well 256-bit GDDR3 is doing on the 9800 GX2, 8800 GTS 512, and 9800 GTX.
