Airflow Question

Thread Starter
I recently bought a new system:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz (Overclocked at 3.0GHz)
CPU Fan: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Motherboard: ASUS P5K Premium
Memory: Corsair Dominator 2GB DDR2 - 1066
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD3870 X2
Operating System: Vista 32

My CPU runs constantly at 42-49 C and my GPU at 67 C on full load.

My case is the A+ Case Twin Engine / XCLIO A380 and has a 25 cm fan in the front, (Which blows onto the hard drives) and at the side another 25 cm fan intake.
Here is a link to the specs of the case: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Apluscase/TwinEngine...

I have also put a 120mm Antec fan (Running at 2220 RPM) on the rear of the case as an exhaust.

Is there anything else I should be considering? Could I improve my airflow? I feel my CPU is running at a little too high temperatures

Link isn't working

Chances are thats the best flow you're going to get, unless you're capable of putting a 120mm fan on the roof of your case as exhaust aswell.

*edit* here's a link to it on the newegg since above is broken

I never was a big fan (pun TOTALLY intended) of those cases... 250mm fans are hard to find and expensive when they break... also the side 250 seems to me like it would just disrupt proper front-bottom to top-back airflow... the case (in my personal opinion) is just too expensive for what it offers

That aside, if you want to improve case airflow, My two suggestions would be:
1) wedge a 120mm in the place of 3x5.25bays for more intake
2) If you have a dremel, cut a 120mm blowhole on top and stick one there

As for ACTUALLY dropping your CPU temps... perhaps consider lapping your HSF and CPU...
I would definitely suggest HSF lapping as HSF warranties are hardly implemented... but for drastic temp drops, you would have to have both surfaces flat - which would mean CPU lapping as well (which for most people with expensive chips, is a rather intimidating thought)

It might help to put an intake fan inside the case in the optical drive bay

Thanks guys for the fast reply Killa, I think i will try your suggestions but I might have a bit of a problem with the fan in the front as I only have two 5.25" bays available. Would a smaller fan do the job?

you might want to take a look at my faq for case fans - link below in my signature. could give you some hints on how to improve your air flow.
