Deals: DS3L for $59.99, P5N-E SLI for $59.99 and more at Newegg - Page 2

This is Newegg policy on open box items.

Open-Box Items

* Return for refund within: 15 days
* Return for replacement within: non-replaceable

This is our Detailed Open Box Item Return Policy. Newegg.com often sells items that are listed as "open-box." Because these items are sold at greatly reduced prices, they bear this limited 15-day refund-only return policy through Newegg.com. Such items can only be returned within 15 days of the applicable invoice date. Newegg.com cannot provide replacement service for these items, as their stock is limited. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of these items is with the buyer. These items have been tested for functionality, but may have superficial physical defects including (but not limited to) scratches, dings or dents. Should these items prove defective following their purchase, the buyer (not the manufacturer, distributor, or Newegg.com) assumes the entire cost of all necessary servicing or repairs, unless otherwise required by law. These items are not covered by any 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

If you purchase an Open-Box product you will receive an OEM BAREBONE item, meaning you will only receive the item itself. Accessories are NOT INCLUDED with Open-Box products, even if the missing accessory is required for the item to function properly.

So you pay for shipping once and that is not refundable and you pay for shipping again if you have to return it or RMA it. And that language above leads me to believe it will be like pulling teeth to get a refund from Newegg on an open box.

We all know that these are items that many of us have returned. When it is a motherboard, it maybe have been pushed to the limits by someone overclocking and not pleased with the result. Do you really want to buy that?

I never have thought it was worth the risk.

You scared me there for a second. At first I thought the price for the DS3L wasn't for an open box. I just got my DS3L from ClubIT last week.

In the last year I have bought exactly 22 open box motherboards from newegg for various builds. Of those 22, 4 have had some sort of defect that made me send them back (2 DOA, one had an IDE channel that didn't work, one had a dead PCIE slot but the IGP still worked)

Even open box boards that I've purchased and later died either from my own doing or just because I would RMA (except Abit boards...) and have it replaced at a reasonable cost.

The only risk I see with buying open box boards is you may not get all the little "toys" originally included.

And a lot of times its people who don't know what they are doing that return the items. For example the DS3L that i'm using right now is an open-box and the only thing wrong with it is it has a bum 12v rail sensor.

Someone probably saw only 4v on the line and freaked out and sent it back. However the multimeter said 12v so i save 30 buck + shipping(at the time).

Shipping it back = 10 bucks some boards have $100 savings.

I bought an open box DS3L last week. It is running very good.

Pay attention to the bold red text that says that no accessories are included. Even though I have always gotten everything in the past, they meant it with this board. I'm trying to get ahold of gigabyte to see if they can help me find a I/O panel shield.
