For comparison:
http://auzentech.officewebsiteonline...isonChart2.pdf
http://techgage.com/article/razer_ba...1_sound_card/2

The AC-1 has a superior APU that handles 32bit/192khz compared to X-Fi's 24bit/96kHz. The AC-1 has a superior SNR of 117db compared to the X-Fi's 109dB. And finally, the AC-1 has a superior 24bit/192kHz, 120dB-part spec DAC while the X-Fi has a 24bit/96kHz DAC. And as far as I could tell, their OPAMPs are comparable, neither of them has the more expensive mono channel OPAMPs that the X-Meridian has.

So please explain to me why the X-Fi is superior?
We weren't talking about the Meridian lol. The Meridian's opamps may be comparable, but the AC-1's opamps however are not. I don't remember exactly what opamps were on the AC-1, but I remember seeing the specs once and I remember thinking they were at the level of the XtremeMusic's (quite a step down to the XtremeGamer Falt1ty Pro). Plus the X-Fi has EAX effects up to 5.0, which the AC-1 lacks (doesn't effect sound quality of course, but a nice plus for gaming). The APU on the AC-1 might be slightly better for recording, but does anybody actually have 32bit or 192Khz sound files lol?, um no... So I consider those extra features of the AC-1 a moot point. Plus, the SNR "spec" isn't the actual SNR of the card and it maybe different in the actual output, it even said that in the review you posted. The Meridian is a good card with it's APU, however the AC-1 doesn't really show off it off that well with it's lacking compenents.

He should just test it out himself, I'm sure the X-Fi will sound better .

I wasn't comparing the XtremeGamer Fatality Pro to the X-Meridian. I used the X-Meridian as a spec sheet for the identical components it shares with the AC-1, namely the APU and the DAC. As you have said yourself, DAC and OPAMP matter the most in SQ. The AC-1 clearly has the superior DAC. About the OPAMPs, unless the Fatality Pro used mono channel OPAMPs, which I don't recall any X-Fi based cards used, I seriously doubt that it is a "huge step down". Cards like the X-Meridian and the Prelude have superior SQ because they use mono channel OPAMPs, and thus making the cards more expensive.
