A fan is a good idea, but heatspreaders are generally a waste.

Regardless, the first thing you should do is find out as much about these sticks as possible.

If you could, get the entire model number/version off of the sticks. If you can see the chips the memory uses, the information written on them would be useful as well. A dump or screen shot of the SPD information could also help.

Overclocking without this information is a complete shot in the dark. However, if you knwo what PCB, ICs, and SPD are used, you may very well beable to get quite close to final settings on your first try.
OK, I'll check this out soon...then where do you find the info for my exact ram, a website? Please inform!

Also, get some fans if your case was really cheap and use cable ties to improve airflow significantly. That should help. But besides that, just do as those before me have stated.

Yeah, I already did the fan part and got my temps down about -8C CPU/-5C GPU & ambient so that is no prob.

I Got:
3 120mm S-Flexes blowin in (1 on side)
1 80 mm blowin in over the GPU
80, 92 & 120mm blowin out.

Ok, back to ram...

What about 1T vs 2T? When do I mess with this and volts?

Well, I got my ram OCd upto 700mhz before I got errors on memtest86+, test #8.

Was running them at 5-5-5-15-1T at 1.9v (stock was 1.8v). What change should I try 1st tonight?

Change to 2T?
Up the volts to 2.0 or 2.1?
Loosen timings to 6-6-6-10 (or 18 or other)?
Or a combination of the above?

Specifics please in your response as I am ramnoob! Thanks again guys!

change it to 2t run memtest
if that dont work try 6/6/6/18
if that dont work try 2.0v @ 5/5/5/15(make sure the ram is not getting to hot)
if that dont work try 2.0v @ 6/6/6/18

with the timmings that loose though its the same as beating a dead horse

Ha, I like that!

Well, as long as in beating this dead horse I learn something, it's all good!

I already benched with SuperPi and Everest Ultimate at stock and will again once OCd to see what kind of numbers I get. If I see no improvement and the horse is too stenchy, I will revert to stock and go for tighter timings (if possible) instead.

Thanks for the info...chalk me up as another noob gettin the smackdown!!
