Returning my 780i for a 750i FTW

Thread Starter
Yeah.. I just got my 780i last week and it's been pretty solid so far... however I figured I save $50 (and upgrade the CNPS9700 to a Tuniq Tower) and get two-way SLI instead of 3-way (which I will never use)

There have been rumors of the 750i FTW being more overclockable (FSB wise) than the 780i so decided I'm going to see for myself.

Major differences between the two:

780i
  • 3-way SLI (16x/16x/16x)
  • 6x SATA ports
  • 2x 10/100/1000 integrated LAN

750i
  • 2-way SLI (16x/16x)
  • 4x SATA ports
  • 1x 10/100/1000 integrated LAN
  • Solid capacitors

I will post my OCing experiences with it soon...

one question...

Will I be OK switching without a format of the harddrive since the chips are very similar?

If you have to an NVIDIA chipset, get a motherboard from eVGA or XFX. They both have lifetime warranty. That way you don't have to worry about solid caps or liquid caps.

If a cap blows, just send it back under the warranty.
