Heres another easy to make PVC res.The Tool-less Reservoir..I made mine out of a sealed 5 gallon bucket with a bulkhead fitting on the bottom, you want to make sure any res you make is air tight or you will have crud growing in it in no time...Make the suction line as big as you can to, like 5/8" or 3/4"...

There is a guy who goes by MorrisGS made a reservoir from a 1-gallon vlassic pickle jar. The glass helps greatly to keep the amount of coolant cool while the overall volume helps to reduce permeation in the loop.

If you're a great artist, maybe you could paint up a jar that size. Maybe even put some of those plastic moving fish in there too.

There are two jars under my desk for a future DIY reservoir to be made. One is actually a relish glass jar. Just pop two opening in the top lip with rubber grommets and tubing and it's good to go!

BTW, it's not everyday a person need 1-gallon of relish unless you have a family reunion in the park or something like that.
