500W is enough for 8800GT SLI'ed?

Thread Starter
Hello Guys,

My PSU rated at 500W (Coolermaster Extreme Power) and i've owned 2x MSI 8800GT OC Edition. I wonder if my PSU can supply enough power to all my devices especially my GCs. Because besides GCs, i have

2x HDDs [Sata II (WD) & Sata I (Seagate)]
1x DVD-RW
1x Case Fan
1x Wireless Card (Linksys)

and still i plan to add-on some devices such as:

3x Case Fans
1x Function Panel (Fan Controller)

and i also plan to OC my GC and E6750 (to 3.6Ghz)...

so my question is. Is it enough 500W??

It will probably run, but you'll be at the limits of your PSU.

it might work, but your gonna wanna be really careful
im running my 8800GTS 512's in SLI on a 550w Rosewill powersupply and when im gaming the PSU is probly the hottest spot in my case with the fans maxed out on it lol

Id go with a 700w+ if your budget permits

Well check your +12V rating cause thats usually what GC cards need power for.

the cards will throttle back at high res and intensive games, if your running at a lower res it should work fine but as your running the cards OC'ed it is in question. Theres no harm in trying as it will post for sure, just make sure you run your cpu @ stock first

Not sure about the currency but this was less then the other options and is more then sufficient. http://www.modernopc.com/store/index...roducts_id=692 It runs in addition to your psu

As long as it can produce 28A on 12v rails and not OC too much, the PSU is fine.
