Setting up a SLI

Thread Starter
ok...just a few simple questions...lol

1. I have a XFX 8800GTS XXX 320mb, do I have to match this EXACLY or can I go with a different brand like BFG, EVGA etc???? And does it have to be the XXX (factory overclock) type???

2. I almost know the answer to this but my power supply is rated at 500w, and it's a dual 12v rail power supply. I also have 3 sata hdds, 2 optical, 6 fans, and I'm running an over clock, will I need to get another power supply like 750w to carry the extra load?

3. Running two of these in SLI will I see that much of a difference in frame rate?...I play cod4 quite a bit and I have a config file setup and I usually average around 130fps on this setup now.....and I'm thinking of carrying these cards (if i get the other one) into a quad core pc when the money is found, so I can run Crisys on high etc.

Thanks for any info on this!

1. it has to be the same model but it doesnt matter wich company u take, for the speeds is the slowest card wil be the sli speed, soo if u have 1 on 600 and 1 on 575. it wil work on 575. (dunno if can overclock the 2nd too 600 too if catch my drift).

2. u could keep the 500w but to be save i would take 600w or higher, preablly 700w for future updates ect maybe.

3. it will preformance better, dunno about crysis but i think yes.

it would be cheaper to scrap that card and get an 8800GTS 512mb and keep that current PSU, as the the new GTS will outperform the 320mb GTS's in SLI. plus the 320mb cards are not made anymore so they will be expensive

that doesn't seem to expensive to me...and i doubt that a single 8800GTS 512 MB would outperform the 320MB in SLI...

EDIT: and LMAO at the lastest review for it...6xAA?? Never seen that....

that guy is kinda stupid. he said you need a SLI ready PSU which isnt true. you just need a good PSU. HAHAHAHA use the drivers on the disk. that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. they are still on the 96 drivers.
