I would say yes only if you have a mobo and psu ready for SLI. I don't think it's worth it to change out almost all your parts.

ive got the 226bw, i can still play crysis on ultra high with 1 8800Gts 640. Personally i think the money would be better spend elsewhere but thats just me.

wish i would have got a better monitor, think mine is part of a defective batch. Its really obvious when im on the same desktop with my old colour accurate xblack sony monitor

I'd suggest this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001270

It's the same resolution as the 2253, has a better picture owing to the smaller pixel pitch, and it's $30 cheaper.

The Samsung is a great monitor...get it..he'll love it.
As for the GPUs, what cards is he thinking of SLIing? Personally I like single card solutions. For the record, I can play almost any game out there on max settings at native 22" res with maxed qualities. The only ones that give it some trouble are of course, Crysis, and Call of Jericho. For some of the more extreme titles, you just need to stick with 8x AA/AF instead of 16x....no big loss there.

I would probably get the 9800GTX or 8800GTX/Ultra.
