Have Vista, <3 Vista? Kinda? 3 Big ??'s

*For all to know, Laptop = Toshiba a200-TJ9 Series. Vista Home PREMIUM.
1.5ghz core 2 duo (t5250).
2gb ram
200gb hd
HD dvd player
bluetooth.
usb's galore
got a G5 mouse for it.
15.4" screen
wireless N capeable.
Have a "dane elec 4gb vista enhanced usb thumb drive to optimize vista* on the side. It's leet...

Below... Is a few big questions. Suggestions/help appreciated. Thanks!

Everyone get's that glorious popup detailing why you have to answer yes or no, do you honestly want to bloody do this....

How do I revoke this thing perma/temp? And get on with installing what I want, playing what I want, modifying options as I want...?

___

Task manager o task manager, since when do I want to go to "administrative" settings when i'm an administrator to start, and THEN close down services I think I don't like... (processes, and/or services, example, msn maxing 50%- 100% cpu load? ***.?).

___

And, I have wireless, it keeps randomly cutting out. I have the router...1 friggen foot away from the laptop.

It's a D-Link DIR-625.

What I have verified that "cuts it out" is when my roommate turn's his pc on/off.

--- HAVE TRIED ---

Alternate network cables, CABLE CONNECTED or WIRELESS, or both, bridged and "un abridged editions, lawl".

I have tried a switch, and router, router then switch, cable modem with just router and me wired and wireless.

I'm on wpa personal, password confirmed, everything reserved for what I need. It simply works for wireless N, G, A, B, cdefghijk... u name it...

It randomly cut's out. And I have a brother printer beside me with LCD, and it goes "lan disconnected" in white screen... funky text and all, and i'm in the middle of an online game then bam.... what the heck...grr...

Any help? Ty.....

I forgot how to disable UAC, but I remember it is easy. Don't forget Google is your friend.

As to the wireless, I am almost totally sure it is the card, not the OS. At my IT department, ABG draft N cards have lots of issues due to the draft N. try and disable draft N, and use G.

When it comes to N over G, I prefer N because of the 130-300mbps transfer rates that are available, while G isn't bad, i'm just wondering if I should be looking for a setting or something. It's integrated with the laptop to, and i've tried contacting D-link, and they have this 60min talk time quota it feels like... with no resolution... And the same goes with Toshiba (laptop maker of mine), and they to don't have any suggestions on hardware side, they seem clueless.

Enjoy.

As for wifi it's probably just the router.

Unless your transfering +100mb files you will notice no difference at all.

All you do is go into "control panel" -> "system" -> "device manager" Expand "network adaptors" and double click your wireless adaptor. Under the "Advanced" tab there should be an option in the list, and you switch the drop down bar on the right to "ABG" or "BG" or just plain "G".

Ok, i'll switch on the laptop tonight and test it on G setup. I'll re config the router and see if G is more stable then N. Probably will bug the crud @ first out of my fiance who brings over her laptop from time to time. But alas it'll be sorted out.

And as for - http://www.tweak-uac.com/ - . Technically disabling it if done, is practically going back to the "cough" secure setup of xp and win 98? And yet even vista (like my laptop right now) has been severely hit by a virus? But isn't vista still just as insecure?

--- Info on virus i'll post in another topic ---
