You want the minimum amout of voltage needed to maintain a stable overclock.. Run the OCCT 1 hour test and see if its stable and record temps.. Then post back results..

Dude, your temps are fine. That second core reading that looks to be very hot is your GPU TEMP. Temp3 is your CPU temp, and the first core reading is only one of your cores...you have two, but Speedfan isn't reading the other. At least this is how it is on my setup, but yeah why would one core be 15* and the other 63*? Doesn't make sense. That's your GPU temp, and it's fine.

Secondly, no one noticed that his HT Link is only 250MHz. That's WAY too low. You have your HT Link Multi set to x1. Set it to x4, and at 250MHz Bus Speed x 4 = 1000MHz HT Link = perfect.

Lastly, I suggest you reset everything back to default, and follow this guide EXACTLY:
*Official* Overclocking Guide for AMD

No offense, but it sounds like you don't know exactly what you're doing. The guide explains EVERYTHING in detail, step-by-step. I can guarantee you will get a much higher, more stable overclock using the approach outlined in the guide than just blindly changing settings and hoping it works.

I myself, using a similar approach to the above linked guide, was able to get to 2.92GHz on my 4800+ at LESS than stock Vcore. I am only limited by my board, which is a decent board, but lacks basic overclocking features such as the ability to change my memory and CPU voltage. As a matter of fact, my Vcore is LESS than stock as stock is 1.35V and my board/BIOS has it set to 1.312V. You have to find the limits of your individual components and then you can figure out what settings you need to fiddle with to get the best overclock possible.

c00lkatz, it might be the bios is plagued with the dreaded htt multiplyer bug

where no matter what you do it defaults back to 1x
the only way i found a way arround it was of course a change of bios
post #18 of 33
^^^ Never heard of it myself, but then again, I've never owned an Asus board. Definitely a possibility if it's a common issue and he hasn't updated to the latest BIOS.

With my particular board, I get excited when they release a new BIOS because it's always a drastic improvement over the last (usually new features added, the first release was terrible), and I have to make this board last until I can afford a better setup.

Some say don't upgrade your BIOS unless you're having issues, but I've always had good luck upgrading. Gigabyte's @BIOS makes it easy though. All I have to do is download the BIOS file from the site, go to @BIOS, tell it to install (all in Windows), and then reboot, and it's done.

OFF-TOPIC: noobdown, do you have a brisbane 4800+ X2? How well does it work with the M2N32-SLI board? I have been thinking of upgrading to that board with my 4800+, and I even have the same Patriot DDR2-800. I was thinking two 8800GT's in SLI. How does that board work out for you?
