Question about Q6600 on CPU-Z

Thread Starter
When I run CPU-Z on my computer with everything stock and no overclock, it says my core speed is only 1600.0 mhz with a x6.0 multiplier and bus speed 266.7mhz fsp 1066.7. How come My core speed is showing so low? for a brief sec it changed to 2.4 like it should be and x9.0 multiplier but then it goes back.

SpeedStep and C1E will underclock the CPU when it's not being utilized to save energy/life of the chip/etc.

When you're actually doing something that would warrant using 2.4GHz, it will up it to it.

I have this same problem. I turned off SpeedSteep (EIST) and C1E and then saved. When I boot it still reads it as the same as he posted

do I have to manually change it back?

Those DFI boards have intricate BIOS(s). What works for most manufacturers may not work for DFI since they have a gazillion other options that maybe related to each other.

This thread explains how to properly disable the Speed Step functions on a DFI board.

I read what you suggested but its exactly what I said I already tried.

Do I have to manually change it back?

No, you don't have to change it back. It should already be set. However, the only other reason I can think of that would cause this is your operating system. Are you still running Windows XP (as per your sig rig), or have you switched recently to Vista?
