Thread Starter
Hi,
In my gaming PC i have an athlon fx-60, which I have easily overclocked. However, In was wondering if i could O/C the chip in my old PC - an amd athlon 64 x2 4200+. It has an arctic cooling 64 fan. Help would be appreciated!
Thanks

I have a x2 4200+ 939, with the same Arctic Cooling 64 heatsink and fan. I have my running at a constant 2700MHz at 1.45V. At some point I'm going to do some experiementing with a high CFM fan on the heatsink and raising the core V and see how far I can go.

Is this a custom built PC or a brand name? Brand name PCs, from what I understand, will have the OC features disabled.

Unfortunately, I don't think so. They disable the overclocking features because if you overclock it will void your warranty. It probably also has something to do with them wanting you to spend more money down the road to update/replace your setup.

I don't care about voiding my warranty, it's just a spare PC. I'll try anything you say because I won't be that annoyed if I wreck it!
