so is the ccc overdrive the only way for me to get my card to run at default speed considering at the moment its running at less than half its proposed clock speed.

so what's the solution for my problem guys? The ccc say my sytem is running 825/901 yet GPU-Z says

GPU Clock 411 450 Memory
Default Ckick 825 901 Memory

According to GPU-Z my graphics card is underperforming alot and in all honesty I can feel it underperforming in games too. I'm not using a 8-Pin power adapter so CCC Overdrive is disabled but a friend with the same card on 8.3 was getting 3500 on 3DMark06 so he won't be using that card in in a while l

What I want to know isin the opinion of your guys and the benches I have done and posted in this thread along with the GPU-Z screenshot, is my graphics card underclocked and underperforming or not?

Thanks

My friend has the same card as i do, and when he tried his with 8.3 cats he got 3,500 running in XP. His set up was Phenom 9600BE @2.4 ASUS 790FX Mobo, 2GB 1066 RAM, enermax 720Watt inffiniti PSU and a audigy sound card. Now since both are giving bad results im doubting its the card (though it certainly can be). Im begining to think that the CPU is struggling to keep up with all the processes sent to it by the GFX card hence the stuttering and the decrease in performance.

Any ideas?

Hello Chaos...I have the same issue as you. I do not think that the atitool is a good read. Since the current clock setting in the ccc is not reflective of running games.

It's more like an idle speed to help reduce power consumption.

I also get the exact default clock & memory settings you mentioned only in the tool section it says crossfirex disabled when I know it is enabled in the ccc.

Also, all the device manager section listings check out.

I think that the reason for the lower 3Dmark06 score is due to the ccc software.

I have even tryed to overclock from the ati tool and it will not allow it.

Surely in the future there will be better drivers and perhaps ccc update to fix the loss of 3Dmarks....but then your cpu is sorta similar to the one I have...

I am getting around 13700 3Dmark06 actual and from the orb site 15100. The later is what the card is capable of with my given cpu speed with the card.

Due to temp. differences and cpu cache & i have dual...but if you had quad ...then my score actual score would be higher and the orb calculated higher still.

the only thing i have to disagree with is the CCC being bad as people are using the same CCC and getting very high scores. Though im thinking yo maybe right with the CPU bottleneck theory.

Also just running a winrar bench and i get the following

SPEED
Resulting KB/s 577
Current KB/s 574-577 fluctuating

TOTAL
Elapsed Time 00:05:00
Processed MB 169
Error Found NO

Multithreading Enabled

Im guessing the Errata Fix is enabled?(and no i cant disable it from the bios and AOD doesnt work on my mobo)

Yes, I think that the ccc is not all bad. But in the case that I have an Asus EAH3870X2/G/3DHTI/1G/A more commonly called the Asus3870x2TOP.

It would seem as if the ccc only recognises the card as the regular 825 clock my card comes stanard with an additional factory overclock 830+, this is what I mean about the software not showing this...

Also, there are other issues too. The crossfirex enable feature says that it is working. But, when I run gpu-z in the ati crossfire section it says disabled?

Though it also shows below that there are two 3870x2 gpus' displayed.

When I switch the crossfirex enable to off in ccc. The second 3870x2 gpu is not displayed in ccc or in the gpu-z.

I would assume that the crossfire does work...yet the software is not right for either the gpu-z with my card to display the crossfire enable as it always says disabled.

Also, the ati tool which is suppose to be for overclocking without limit...anyways based upon your hardware. Does not work ....something in the ccc drivers is not allowing the tool to set the overclock beyond the current speed.

Which only goes up to 438...

In this sense the ccc is bad...as it does not allow for any reasonable overclock ...this is exactly the reason that I bought the 3870x2TOP...so i would be able to overclock.

for me GPU-Z shows XFire enabled. I did a format and now I'm hitting 13763, I will get link in a few.

I'm going to try it again after all M$ updates are installed. Then I'm gonna try and OC the gfx card a little and look for a performance gain. At this moment in time I'm almost 100% sure that the reason for the low score is due to my motherboard and processor. I was running winrar bench and saw with bios 1101 I was getting 600k then I rolled back to 1009 and I was benching 1,600. With this increase I have been able to achieve I higher bench in 3DMark06 BUT my Cpu should be hitting 2,100-2,400 so my CPU with the TLB fix disabled is still underperforming. Possibly with the 9850 @ 3.2GHZ or a C2Q Q6600 @ 3.2-3.4GHZ my score should in fact rocket, as the CPU could handle more load. Personally I believe from the test's that I have been applying that the CPU is bottlenecking and holding back the overall performance of not only the GFX card but the whole machine it self.

Here is link also in sig http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=6292929

Any opinions on this?
