i had a simalar problem, try pressing f6 at the install screen (with the 5 options) and change the end 2 entries to:

delete the word ''quiet'' and change splash to ''nosplash''

I'd like to add to that:

Before deleting quiet and changing splash to nosplash, type acpi=off.

Run the text-only install. That solves all graphical related issues, is just as easy to use, and saves you from having to screw around with boot options.
