Are you looking to just shred files so they can't be recovered, or wipe an entire hard drive?

I have used File Shredder before, and it is pretty nice if you are looking to permanently delete files.

If you are looking to zero-fill an entire drive, you might try http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...scription.html. You can run it in Windows or make a bootable disk.

Hopefully that is what you are looking for...

Edit: Eraser has also been recommended to me, but I have never used it, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how good it is.

I want to write zeros to the entire disk then reinstall windows because I have a virus and read that even if I reinstall windows and reformat it could still be there and I don't want to take any chances. furthermore it cant hurt to install windows again on a completely clean disk.
