780i heat

South bridge in bios is reading 78c.. i usually game at nite, and its hot today during the day.. and my game keeps crashing, this explains why


any ideas?

Do you have a fan on it? Might want to try it or remount with AS5 if you have not or get a aftermarket unit.

78c is a bit too high for even a SB, and they take some heat.

Collateral, why do you doubt me ? BTW, you need to update your specs.

The problem is that the SB uses a pad to prevent the heatsink from damaging the SB core. That pad is known to get pinched between the SB core and the heatsink preventing full contact, which is causing the heat buildup. So just remove the heatsink, remove the excess pad, reapply AS5 and put the heatsink back on.

Uh.... What???

What does any of that have to do with removing the thermal pad off your SB and replacing it with AS5? It's practically free.... well, whatever the cost a BB-size amount of AS5 is.....
