Looking for some build advice

Thread Starter
Recently a friend of mine asked me to build him the best possible computer I could for $1000. The only real specification that he mentioned was that he wanted a quad core processor. Here's what I came up with:

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811119047

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813136045

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814102719

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817163108

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16819115018

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820231166

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16822136073

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Revised to be Intel.

Does it have to be AMD? I am looking at your sig rig. That looks like a good option also.

I think you can do a lot better than that for $1000. The best thing you could do is go for an Intel Q6600, cheaper RAM, and an 8800GTS 512MB. The 8800GTS 512MB is very close to being the same as a 9800GTX and it costs less. Here's $137 dollars less in just 3 parts, and a better CPU and RAM.

Q6600 = $190
8800GTS 512MB = $210
4GB Corsair Dominator 1066MHZ RAM = $108

If you have an extra SATA cable lying around you can save big $$$ on the motherboard.
Newegg has the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L (up to 1333FSB) "open box" for $59.99 shipped.
I just bought one for my E8400 and it was brand new in the wrapper. But then again, I had and extra SATA cable. No backplate provided for the case either. But 60 bucks for a top rated motherboard ain't bad

Bacchus, performance wise the 8800GTS benches a little higher (in comparison to 3DMark06) but if your on a budget I'd go with the 3870. A Sapphire 3870 512MB is going for $159 with a $10 MIB on newegg.

Good luck with your purchase
